Nicky Green heads up The 2 Minute Foundation as it propels itself into 2022. Rooted to coastal living and with a keen interest in the environment, she’s been an integral part of 2 Minute since 2015. As the #2MinuteBeachClean built traction, she took over the station sales, which lead to fundraising, corporate and international relations, campaigns, recruiting the wider team and was instrumental in the transition to charity status.
Nicky lives in Croyde, North Devon, where she’s always on the beach, either beach cleaning, running, supping, dipping whatever the season, or hanging with her husband and 2 daughters. You may also find her singing at an open mic night, but she won’t ever tell you when that will be!
Martin is a writer, surfer and activist. After finding a beach covered in plastic bottles in 2007 he vowed to make a difference. Shortly afterwards he set up the Beach Clean Network with Tab Parry, organised his first beach clean and changed his life. He first used the #2minutebeachclean hashtag in 2013.
In 2018 Martin’s book about plastic “No. More. Plastic.” was published, followed by “Kids Fight Plastic” for Walker Books. “No More Rubbish Excuses” was then published in January 2020. His latest book, “Kids Fight Climate Change” was published in 2021.
Martin lives in Bude with his partner Lizzy and a collection of surfboards, bikes and kayaks.
Claire joined us at 2 Minute HQ after years of working in the marine conservation and volunteering sector across the globe. She epitomises everything 2 minute. As our Campaigns Manager, one minute she’s running our comms and campaigns, and the next she’s rock pooling in a 2 Minute Beach School session. She’s spirited, motivational, and her positivity is catching. She loves working with wonderful communities, 2 minute superheroes and volunteers that make up the 2 Minute Family!
Claire is a beach addict, surfer, Divemaster, chair of environmental activists A Greener Bude and is passionate about preserving the worlds ocean habitats. When she isn’t rummaging along the strandline looking for nurdles, she will be found either above or below the waves…
Dolly is a force of nature – full of energy, unstoppable, unforgettable. She lives in Clovelly in North Devon and is mum to 5 kids, granny to 2 and mother to the 2 Minute Family. She runs the 2 Minute beach Clean, 2 Minute Street Clean and 2 Minute Litter Pick Instagram and Twitter accounts and has been a big part of the 2 Minute story since the early days. When she’s not speaking to people all over the world via her phone, she explores the South West with partner David in their campervan. Give them a wave.
Tab was one of the original directors of The Beach Clean network and has been dragged along for the ride since the very beginning when she shared an office with Martin. She is a graphic designer with a knack for making things look wonderful and a great eye for colour. She designed the original #2minutebeachclean branding and stations and has defined our look ever since. Tab lives in North Devon with smiling partner Ben and two riotously overexcited boys. She is, of course, a saint, and likes shoes.
Jodie has a background in retail and charity work and joined us in 2019. She is now Shop Manager and runs the online shop, and has been instrumental in setting up the Crooklets beach shop, From Trash to Treasure. Jodie moved to Bude with her husband Craig so they could be near to the sea and walk their two dogs on the beach (whilst doing a #2minutebeachclean of course). She loves to SUP (on the rare days that Bude has calm seas), explore around Europe in their motorhome and has helped to set up Bude’s first zero waste ReFill Shop.
Heather comes to us with an extensive background in financial management and says she is thrilled to be involved with the 2 Minute initiative. Originally from the midlands, she arrived in the west country in 2003 after a brief stay in the big smoke and now she gets heart palpitations if she ever has to leave the county!
She lives in Kilkhampton with a lovely view of the Cornish countryside and loves nothing more than sitting with a cuppa watching the birds swoop over her conservatory. Heather says “It breaks my heart that we could treat this beautiful planet in such a way, so being involved with the Foundation is my small way of helping to change things for the better”.
She is an advocate of all things local and is old enough (!) to remember a time when buying local was the norm and is excited to see things moving back towards ‘the old days’.
Angus joined us in 2020 and manages the Stations. With a colourful background in sales, Angus brings fresh energy to 2 Minute and his quick wittedness is a joy to work with.
He loves the diversity of people getting in touch from corporates to community groups and individuals and that with each Station ordered, he feels part of the solution.
He grew up in Scotland, loves the great outdoors and has happy memories of beaches and holidays and has wild camped in the Outer Hebrides many times.
You’ll always find him with a great cup of coffee in his hand. He is a connoisseur!
Liam leads our primary, secondary and adults sessions at The 2 Minute beach School. Liam joined us in Summer 2021 after completing his secondary school teacher training as a geography teacher and now brings geography to life in his classes on the beach.
Liam is a keen outdoors person who particularly enjoys catching a wave and loves to spend time in the natural environment. Liam’s passion for the outdoors really manifests in the work that he does for The 2 Minute Foundation, inspiring children, and adults alike to become advocates for their green and blue spaces.
Mike has a Masters degree in Global Sustainability Solutions. His specialist research area is citizen science, particularly focused on marine litter, and he actually interviewed some of us for his research before joining the team. His research from his undergraduate degree is being reviewed for publication, and Mike’s beginning to be in demand to share his findings with various journals and round table events.
Originally from around Newquay, Mike lives in Truro with his partner Lisa and their dog Bodhi.
Mike’s a keen surfer and loves travelling, although now he tends to explore closer to his doorstep with Bodhi in tow.
Fiona leads our Early Years and Primary sessions at The 2 Minute Beach School. She is teacher, a Forest School and Outdoor Learning Leader, and a passionate advocate for the natural world. She shares her passion for the oceans and the natural world with all the children and families that she works with and inspires children to connect with and protect the natural environment by educating them about the problems facing our oceans and encouraging them to take action.
In her spare time, Fiona enjoys dog walks at the beach (of course) or in the woods. She also enjoys being in the water, surfing, canoeing, and swimming with her family. In her down time, when she gets the chance, she loves to snuggle up with cup of tea and a good book!
Alan is a camper van owning family man, partner to Hannah, Dad to Jasmine, Harry, Alfie, Daisy and owner to Mollie and Corby the family dogs. He’s also our IT genius and has been beavering away in the background making widgets, maps, delivering our app and all sorts to make the #2minutebeachclean campaign tick. Alan grew up in Wells, Somerset and now lives near Burnham-on-Sea. More recently, he’s fallen back in love with photography. He takes a mean sunset and is building on his personal portfolio. He writes internal web applications and mobile apps for companies as a contractor and thinks that computers are easier to deal with than large crowds of people, which is why you’ll find him and his family at small festivals in their V-Dub this summer. Give him a wave.
Andy can't surf but when he can tear himself away from his desk in somerset, he does like to walk his dog on the beach. Ideally, towards a bag of fish and chips.
Like many nerds he's generally happier in the background and he's been behind the scenes at 2 Minute from the beginning. He builds and maintains our websites and assists with creative.
Philippa is a passionate fundraiser, who loves working with charities to help them grow. She has secured vital grants for The 2 Minute Foundation to flourish and has been a valued friend of 2 Minute over the years.
She is lucky enough to live by the sea in Devon and regularly picks up after her weekly cold water dips to protect the area she loves.
By taking 2 minutes picking up, she feels that it is a good reminder to slow down and do something positive each day.
